LUNCH & LEARN SEMINARS

You’re invited to PPCC’s Lunch & Learn Series on the fourth Tuesday of every month. This is a free opportunity to learn more about the featured topics as we hope to raise awareness and improve resiliency in ourselves and our community. All Lunch and Learn seminars will run from noon to 1pm and will be conducted at PPCC’s main office at 707 Gum Rock Court in Newport News unless otherwise noted.

Your Nervous System Is Talking: How to Listen, Respond, and Find Your Way Back to Calm

Our nervous systems are quietly and powerfully working on our behalf every moment of every day—shaping how we think, feel, connect, rest, protect, and move through the world. Yet many of us were never taught how to understand the language of our own bodies, recognize states like fight, flight, or freeze, or gently work with our nervous systems rather than against them.

Join us for a grounded and compassionate conversation exploring the basics of the nervous system: what happens in moments of activation, how to recognize common states of stress, heightened emotion, and shut-down, and how to move toward greater calm, self-regulation, and connection. This seminar will be presented by Abby Ellis, MACP and Resident in Counseling.

Join us every third Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. for our monthly Clergy Connections meeting in-person or via Zoom!

Would you like to learn more about PPCC, our mission, and how we are impacting our community? We offer an hour-long visit that will give you new understanding about our services and how we are working to meet the challenges of a mental health crisis.

If you wish to attend a tour, please contact Ford McFall at (757) 873-2273 or email fordmcfall@peninsulapastoral.org.
