The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work

The classes happen online EVERY Wednesday for eight weeks beginning February 10th and ending March 31st from 6:00-7:30 pm via Zoom.

This eight-week class is based on the research of Dr. John Gottman as presented in his book The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work.

This online seminar will be presented by Rev. Brent Seusy, M.Div., L.C.S.W., MHRD/OD and Mrs. Mary Le Goullec, M.Ed., LPC. Whether a couple's relationship is distressed or strong, this class will provide tools and insights to strengthen relationships. This is a psycho-educational workshop and not couples therapy. Thanks to a grant from the Williamsburg Community Foundation, PPCC is able to offer this opportunity at a minimal cost to participants. The cost is $60 per couple. Registration fee per couple includes a copy of Dr. Gottman's book "Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work." and the accompanying couple's workbook.

"Men Being Real” - led by Rev. Morgan Guyton

Eight consecutive Tuesday nights, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm beginning Tuesday, March 2.

Men Being Real is a space where men can let everything out in a safe, structured, judgment-free space in order to work through our struggles as workers, husbands, fathers, and friends. We practice healthy conflict, accountability, and vulnerable dialogue. We do not hide or ignore our emotions, but study them closely in order to understand ourselves better and interact more healthily with our friends and family. We are not afraid to discuss our differences, which we will do with curiosity and respect. Each participant will be empowered each week to set boundaries for the engagement he wishes to receive from others. Nobody will be called out or ganged up on or shamed; we will practice asking for what we need and listening before we speak. Each week, the roles we play with each other will shift according to our needs and capacities.

Pastoral Leadership Group 2021

A new study on the fourth Tuesdays of the month, 11:00am - 1:30pm

Our book this year is “Everything Isn’t Terrible” by Kathleen Smith, Ph.D. who is on the faculty of The Bowen Family Center. This book has been described as a practical guide "to inspire you to confront your anxious self, take charge of your anxiety, and increase your own capacity to choose how you respond to it.” Our discussion will provide practical ways to be a better leader in these anxious times. Kathleen will join us for one session to engage with the group about her book.

Cost: $300 for ten monthly sessions beginning February 23

Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy Training

Rev. Becky Glass, LPC, LMFT - Executive Director of Peninsula Pastoral Counseling Center and Rev. Martin W. Phillips, LPC - Executive Director of Tidewater Pastoral Counseling Services invite you to register for the Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy (SIP) Program, a 30 hour NBCC CE approved training being held via Zoom on the second Friday of each month, beginning on March 12th, from 9 am - Noon EST

Cost is $750 per person - limited scholarships are available.
